UPDATE:
On Tuesday the 15th of December 2020, Takahiro Shiraishi was found guilty of 1 degree murder and sentenced to the death penalty. FYI, death row inmate in Japan are not given their execution date until the day they will be executed (by hanging). They can spend years in prison before the sentence is carried out.
